The Silence 03:59
You've got plenty to say I see it creepin' up your tongue. A week's worth of melting, your eyes are so telling You're damn near on the run. You're on the run. There's a quiet fire burning Wherever you last saw your heart It sings in a whisper, it creeps like a victor The ache pulls us apart If the silence doesn't get to us, the flame from afar surely will Contempt breeds so slowly, it devours the holy Watch the edge dear, we're bound to spill We're bound to spill It's a game of rush and roulette Do we stay or do we go? There's too much to carry and we cannot bury these embers as we go. If the silence doesn't get to us, the flame from afar surely will Contempt breeds so slowly, it devours the holy Watch the edge dear, we're bound to spill We're bound to spill

The door is always open There's no need to knock Just walk right in, baby It's warm in here, the fire's goin' We got nothin' to hide, nothin' to fear, Love's on our side, you can shed your tears Come on home, and rest your spirit with me Come on home, rest your spirit for me Come on home, you can put your faith in me now Lay it down, lay it all down Cause some days your feet are gonna hit the ground But come on home and rest your spirit with me I know you feet are tired I can see it in your eyes Cause' you've been fightin' battles And ooo, I hear your battle cries Cause deep in your heart, there's a torch that feels heavy Well, hand it to me, hand it to me, I will learn how to carry Just come on home, you can put your faith in me now Come on home, rest your spirit with me Lay it down, lay it all down Cause some days your feet are gonna hit the ground But come on home and rest your spirit with me

Pour me a glass of champagne Perhaps make it whiskey, It's not too late Night's purple glow is still young yet Sing me a song I will forget See I, I remember spring I smell the flowers, I hear the bells ring I've lived through another lonely sunset Can you sing me a song that I will forget? Make it sweet like Cole Porter, but soft on the rhyme Sing it slow and easy, all I have is time My memories are too swift to recall I need arms to help, to help ease the fall Draw all the curtains and dim the lights We begin to dance, we will give in to the night One more draw off of you cigarette, Then we'll sing a song we will forget
5.
Jupiter 03:18
You sent me a sign tonight Pinned up by the moon You begged the flood You turned the tide I left too soon Oh, Jupiter Can we turn back time? Or, Jupiter Release this heart of mine? Take me back, I'll jump with both feet in the water Take me back, I will dive into the deep Take me back, I will run with arms wide open Straight back to you, Straight back to you Oh, Jupiter. All the doors, the paths, the roads I had to choose. I rolled the dice, I played the odds, I was bound to lose Oh, Jupiter Can we turn back time? Or, Jupiter Release this heart of mine? Take me back, I'll jump with both feet in the water Take me back, I will dive into the deep Take me back, I will run with arms wide open Straight back to you, Straight back to you

November's in the air All the leaves of gold are scattered everywhere And still my heart longs for you Underneath this canopy of hue The whirlwinds in the sky Just remind me of how quickly the days fly Just like sunlight through the leaves Stolen by the moon's thieves In some other life, you fell in love with me In some other life, you'd feel the way that I do In some other life, the glances weren't stolen In some other life, my heart isn't broken The crimson leaves so bold, They bring with them the chill of winter's cold And my heart will long for you And my heart will long for you

Stay 03:06
You are welcome at this table You are welcome to the wine Come sit beside me, Drink in the fire Though the days seems rather long We know that years fly by Stay for a while Will you stay for a while? I won't read you the old letters, Please don't sing me our old song Time seems too precious to look back for too long Let the dust settle on the ground What was lost has now been found Stay for a while Will you stay for a while? Oh forgiveness courses through your veins, courses through mine We'll need each other, The water's bound to rise Stand on the bridge we built so long ago Let the tide come and go It will come and it will go, But we'll stay for a while You are welcome at this table You can have this heart of mine Come sit beside me Take in the night Fear may tell us lies in our sleep But we know the sun will rise And we'll stay for a while. We will stay for a while.

Rivers 03:17
Lyrics written by e.h. Bring the moon o'er the meadows as you settle down the sun And we'll go dancing in the dark racing rivers as they run For the heart always needs places no one else know that you are So that you may sew yourself a new 'Neath a blanket made of stars Then in the morning, like all rivers, We'll find our footprints by the sea At last you will be you and I can finally feel like me

It's a race to the end A line that keeps on moving, moving, moving Like it's drawn in sand Like it's drawn in sand I steal time from fate Time that keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking I am running late I am running late Minutes to hours, Hours to days, They're fleeting Days into months and Months into years, They're fleeting.

about

I started writing these songs in 2008. They have sat scattered and unfinished in my journals under my nightstand, in the top of my closet, and next to my piano for years. “Forgotten Songs” is a collection of my original songs that have either been brushed aside in the name of being too busy or unheard because they were sung in the recesses of my local restaurant gigs and in my basement. I have dreamed of recording them for nearly 10 years.

We recorded the majority of this album in my teaching studio, all of us nestled into our instruments and each’s others sound zones. I wanted this music to feel like you were in the room with us, at a house concert, hearing and feeling all of the experience. As Ani DiFranco sang, “People used to make records, as in a record of an event, the event of people playing music in a room.” This is us, playing music in a room.
